Can you guess them?
People usually start off with food and water and then realising there is air as well. So these are the 3 main components to life, but we need to put them in the proper order:
- Oxygen
- Water
- Food
Although it seems logical, it just shows how much we are NOT aware of the proper order. Breathing is an automatic function of the body you reside in or is it?
Well most of the time it is, unless you are practicing breathing techniques which are making you aware of your own breath. Most of the people never become aware of their own breath in their lifetime, which is really sad since this is one of the most important factor to a healthy life.
Did you know for example that practicing full breathing (when you fill your lungs with air from the bottom to the top) can prevent certain lung diseases? Or that it actively influences the nervous system?
The most time that someone held their breath underwater is 24 minutes. That’s how important oxygen is.
After oxygen our next most important component is water. Did you know that your body is mainly composed of water. It ranges from 45% to 75% of your body, depending on gender, age, body composition, fitness levels etc.
A typical human being can survive without water for about 3 days. Again it all depends on a lot of factors I’m not going to discuss here.
And the last item is going to be food. A person can survive without food for about 30-40 days. In fact nowadays fasting become really popular. It allows the body to take a break from digesting and use all that energy to repair the body.
So here are the the main components to sustain life. It’s pretty obvious and basic.
But it never hurt to go over the basics.
